Community-Connectedness and the Response to Human Trafficking

Trainer: Men As Peacemakers

Summary:

In this video, viewers will be introduced to the core concept of community-connectedness, which will serve as a core principle guiding their approach to direct service provision.  Viewers will grasp what it means to be interconnected, how community-connectedness – particularly connection to members of the community most impacted by trafficking, exploitation, and other harms – helps inform and improve the multidisciplinary response to trafficking, and ways to increase their connection to the communities they serve.

  Learning Objectives/Goals:

After watching this video, viewers will:

  1. Understand that trafficking and exploitation are not just harms experienced by individuals, but harms that impact entire communities.
  2. Begin to see themselves as part of the community – personally, professionally, and at an agency level – not just providing a service to the community.
  3. Understand community-connectedness as a critical protective factor against trafficking and exploitation and begin identifying ways to increase their connection to the communities they serve.
